Question 1

What is mobile cryotherapy?

Accepted Answer

Mobile cryotherapy is a recovery and wellness service where a practitioner brings professional-grade cryotherapy equipment directly to your location — a sporting event, workplace, corporate office, or home. Mobile Cryotherapy Brisbane uses the America Cryo SubZero device to deliver localised CO2 cryotherapy at -70 degrees Celsius, without you needing to visit a clinic. Sessions run 60 to 120 seconds per area and require no downtime.

Question 2

What is localised cryotherapy and how does it work?

Accepted Answer

Localised cryotherapy applies pressurised CO2 gas at -70 degrees Celsius to a targeted area of the body. The rapid temperature drop creates a thermal shock that triggers vasoconstriction (blood vessels narrow, reducing inflammation) followed by vasodilation (blood rushes back, delivering oxygen and nutrients). This two-phase response reduces pain, flushes inflammatory waste, and accelerates the body's natural healing process. Each treatment area takes 60 to 120 seconds. Most clients feel immediate pain relief and reduced swelling.

Question 3

How is CO2 cryotherapy different from ice packs or whole-body cryo chambers?

Accepted Answer

Ice packs cool the skin surface slowly and unevenly, typically reaching a few degrees below body temperature. Whole-body cryo chambers expose the entire body to nitrogen vapour. Localised CO2 cryotherapy precisely targets a specific area at -70 degrees Celsius in seconds, creating a deep thermal shock that ice simply cannot replicate. Unlike whole-body chambers, localised CO2 cryotherapy does not carry the same risks of oxygen displacement and can be applied to specific injury sites, facial areas, or targeted body zones with precise control.

Question 4

What does localised cryotherapy feel like?

Accepted Answer

The sensation is a sharp, intense cold — similar to holding ice but faster and more penetrating. Most clients describe it as invigorating rather than painful. The cold sensation fades within moments after the device moves on. Many people feel an immediate loosening and relief in the treated area. The treatment is non-contact and non-invasive — the device does not touch the skin.

Question 5

Is cryotherapy safe?

Accepted Answer

Yes, when administered by a trained practitioner and after contraindication screening. Mobile Cryotherapy Brisbane screens every client before treatment using a digital consent and contraindication form. The CO2 device used is the America Cryo SubZero — a professional medical-grade device. The service carries $10,000,000 AUD in Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance. Cryotherapy is not suitable for people with Raynaud's Disease, cold urticaria, pacemakers, active blood clots, open wounds, or current pregnancy. All clients complete screening before their first session.

Question 6

Who should NOT use cryotherapy?

Accepted Answer

Cryotherapy is not suitable for people with: Raynaud's Disease (extreme cold sensitivity), cold urticaria (cold-induced hives or allergic reaction), a pacemaker or serious heart condition, uncontrolled high blood pressure, active blood clots (DVT) or use of blood-thinning medication, open wounds or active skin infections in the treatment area, pregnancy (for abdominal or lower body treatment), a cortisone injection within the last 6 weeks at the treatment site, anti-wrinkle or filler injections within the last 14 days (for facial treatments), nerve damage or loss of sensation in the treatment area, or cancer or malignant tumours near the treatment area. If you are unsure, consult your GP before booking.

Question 7

Can I have cryotherapy if I have varicose veins?

Accepted Answer

Varicose veins are a vascular condition. Cryotherapy does not treat the underlying vein issue and may not be appropriate depending on severity. We recommend speaking with your GP before booking. Compression therapy, which we also offer, is generally well-regarded for managing varicose vein-related discomfort and swelling and may be a better option.

Question 8

Is there any downtime after a cryotherapy session?

Accepted Answer

No. You can return to normal activity immediately after localised cryotherapy. There is no redness, bruising, or recovery period required. Most athletes use it between games at tournaments, and workers use it during break time and return to their shift straight after.

Question 9

How many cryotherapy sessions do I need to see results?

Accepted Answer

Many clients feel results after a single session, particularly for acute pain, post-training soreness, or swelling. For chronic conditions like tendinopathy or recurring strains, a course of 4 to 6 sessions combined with shockwave therapy typically produces the most significant and lasting results. Your practitioner will advise based on your specific situation at your first session.

Question 10

What is shockwave therapy and what does it treat?

Accepted Answer

Shockwave therapy (radial shockwave therapy or RSWT) delivers high-energy acoustic pulses to targeted tissue using a handheld device. These pulses break down scar tissue, stimulate blood flow, and trigger the body's natural collagen production and tissue repair process. It is particularly effective for conditions including plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, patellar tendinopathy (jumper's knee), hamstring tendinopathy, rotator cuff issues, tennis and golfer's elbow, shin splints, and chronic muscle tightness with scar tissue formation.

Question 11

Does shockwave therapy hurt?

Accepted Answer

Shockwave therapy produces a deep tapping or thudding sensation, which can be intense over chronic or tender areas. Most clients rate it as uncomfortable but tolerable. The intensity is fully adjustable, and your practitioner will start conservatively and increase based on your feedback. Any soreness after a session typically resolves within 24 to 48 hours. Many clients notice improved function and reduced pain in the days after treatment.

Question 12

Why combine shockwave therapy with cryotherapy?

Accepted Answer

The Cryo and Shockwave Combo is Mobile Cryotherapy Brisbane's most effective protocol. Shockwave therapy breaks down scar tissue and initiates the healing cascade in chronic tissue. Cryotherapy immediately following flushes inflammation and provides deep pain relief. Together they achieve results that neither therapy produces alone. Clinical studies have shown that 62 percent of patients treated with the combined protocol returned to their previous level of sporting activity. The combo session costs $40 and takes 20 to 30 minutes.

Question 13

Who should not use shockwave therapy?

Accepted Answer

Shockwave therapy is not suitable for people with: a pacemaker or implanted electronic device near the treatment area, active blood clots or coagulation disorders, a cortisone injection within the last 6 weeks at the treatment site, cancer or tumours in the treatment area, open wounds or acute inflammation at the site, pregnancy near the treatment area, or growth plate injuries in children. If you are unsure, consult your GP before booking.

Question 14

What is a cryo facial and what does it do?

Accepted Answer

A cryo facial uses the America Cryo SubZero device with three interchangeable nozzles — a fog spray for broad cooling, a fine spray nozzle for targeted areas like the under-eyes and forehead, and a thin flat contact nozzle for smoothing and depuffing. The cold temperature stimulates vasoconstriction then vasodilation in the skin, boosting circulation and collagen production, reducing puffiness and inflammation, and tightening the skin. Clients leave with an immediate visible glow. Treatment takes 5 to 15 minutes with zero downtime. For full facial treatments, arriving without makeup is recommended, though a spray-only treatment can be provided for clients wearing makeup.

Question 15

What are the benefits of an ice bath for athletes?

Accepted Answer

Ice baths (cold plunge) rapidly lower core body temperature after intense physical output, reducing systemic inflammation and flushing metabolic waste including lactic acid from the muscles. Benefits for athletes include: reduced delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS), faster recovery between training sessions or games, reduced swelling in joints and soft tissue, and improved mental resilience. Mobile Cryotherapy Brisbane operates multiple tubs maintained at sub-4 degrees Celsius with advanced chilling and filtration systems for consistent hygiene. Sessions are 10 minutes.

Question 16

What is compression therapy and how does it help recovery?

Accepted Answer

Compression therapy uses pneumatic (air pressure) sleeves for the legs, arms, and torso to apply sequential pressure that mimics the body's natural muscle pump. This drives venous blood and lymphatic fluid back toward the heart, removing metabolic waste and reducing swelling. Benefits include reduced DOMS, faster lymphatic drainage, decreased fluid build-up after long periods of standing or travel, and improved circulation to tired muscles. Sessions run 20 minutes. Mobile Cryotherapy Brisbane offers boots, arm, and trouser attachments.

Question 17

What is red light therapy and when should I use it?

Accepted Answer

Red light therapy (photobiomodulation) uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to penetrate tissue and stimulate cellular repair, reduce inflammation, and improve collagen production. It works particularly well after cryotherapy — the cryo session reduces acute inflammation while red light supports the deeper cellular healing process. Sessions are 20 minutes. It is often used for skin health, muscle recovery, and joint pain management.

Question 18

Does Mobile Cryotherapy Brisbane come to me?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Mobile Cryotherapy Brisbane is entirely mobile — all equipment is transported to your location. We regularly service locations across Greater Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Oakey, and regional Queensland. For events or workplaces more than 50km from Bethania QLD, a mobilisation fee of $150 applies. For interstate activations in Melbourne, Sydney, or elsewhere, our portable America Cryo SubZero device can be transported by air and CO2 cylinders can be delivered to the destination address.

Question 19

How much space do you need to set up?

Accepted Answer

The minimum footprint for a full treatment setup is 2 metres by 2 metres — suitable for breakrooms, factory floors, sidelines, or office spaces. For larger event setups including multiple ice baths, compression stations, and active recovery zones, we can scale up within a 4.5 metre by 3 metre gazebo. We bring all equipment including tables, chairs, the cryotherapy device, and all consumables.

Question 20

Do you need power or water on site?

Accepted Answer

Most services — localised cryotherapy, compression therapy, red light therapy, and massage — require no external power. The devices are battery-powered or use CO2 cylinders. Ice baths require power for the chilling and filtration systems (standard 240v outlet) and water for filling (approximately 500 litres per day for two tubs). A portable solar battery or generator can be supplied for events without fixed power access. Water requirements should be discussed when booking.

Question 21

What is the Rapid Reset Protocol?

Accepted Answer

The Rapid Reset Protocol is Mobile Cryotherapy Brisbane's signature 10 to 12 minute dual-modality treatment combining radial shockwave therapy with localised CO2 cryotherapy. Shockwave is applied first to break down scar tissue and initiate the tissue repair cascade. Localised cryotherapy follows immediately to flush inflammation and provide deep pain relief. The combination is designed for workers and athletes who need to return to activity quickly. It is the core protocol used at the Oakey Beef Exports weekly onsite program and at sporting events.

Question 22

What is the Employee Physical Sustainability Program?

Accepted Answer

The Employee Physical Sustainability Program is Mobile Cryotherapy Brisbane's corporate onsite recovery clinic. It is a full-day service (8 hours) delivered at your workplace for up to 30 staff members. It includes the Rapid Reset Protocol using localised CO2 cryotherapy and radial shockwave therapy, digital contraindication screening for every participant, and all equipment supplied by Mobile Cryotherapy. The introductory trial day is $950 plus a $150 mobilisation fee for sites more than 50km from Bethania QLD. A $200 deposit is required to confirm the booking. Custom quotes are available for ongoing weekly programs.

Question 23

How does onsite cryotherapy help reduce WorkCover claims?

Accepted Answer

Musculoskeletal injuries are the leading cause of WorkCover claims in physically demanding industries. Repetitive strain, chronic tendon issues, and fatigue-related injuries typically begin as minor niggles that go untreated until they become serious enough to require time off. The Mobile Cryotherapy Rapid Reset Protocol targets these early-stage complaints with shockwave therapy (to address scar tissue and chronic tendon issues) and cryotherapy (to reduce inflammation and pain). Staff who receive regular treatment return to work faster, complete shifts with less discomfort, and are less likely to lodge formal claims. The average musculoskeletal WorkCover claim in Australia exceeds $15,000. A full trial day costs $950.

Question 24

Is Mobile Cryotherapy Brisbane fully insured?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Mobile Cryotherapy Brisbane holds $10,000,000 AUD in Public Liability Insurance and Professional Indemnity Insurance. ABN: 74 922 885 813. Every session includes digital contraindication screening. A signed Consent and Liability Waiver is required from all clients before treatment commences.

Question 28

Where is Mobile Cryotherapy Brisbane based?

Accepted Answer

Mobile Cryotherapy Brisbane is based at 3 Cobalt Drive, Bethania QLD 4205, in the southern Brisbane corridor. The service area covers Greater Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Ipswich, Toowoomba, Oakey, and the Sunshine Coast. Regional Queensland and interstate activations are available on request. A mobilisation fee of $150 applies to sites more than 50km from Bethania.

Question 29

What device does Mobile Cryotherapy Brisbane use?

Accepted Answer

Mobile Cryotherapy Brisbane uses the America Cryo SubZero device — a professional-grade localised cryotherapy system that delivers pressurised CO2 gas at temperatures as low as -70 degrees Celsius. The device weighs 2.2 pounds, is fully portable, features an interactive LCD screen, and includes a distance sensor for safe and precise application. It is used in medical spas and sports recovery settings internationally. It is non-contact, meaning the nozzle does not touch the skin.

Question 30

Can cryotherapy help with chronic pain?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Localised cryotherapy reduces chronic pain by triggering an analgesic response — the intense cold stimulates thermoreceptors faster than pain receptors, producing immediate pain relief that can last 3 to 4 days. Combined with shockwave therapy, which addresses the underlying scar tissue and poor circulation that cause chronic pain, the Rapid Reset Protocol targets both the symptom (pain) and the cause (tissue dysfunction). It is particularly effective for chronic conditions including tendinopathy, RSI, plantar fasciitis, shoulder impingement, and lower back tightness.

Question 31

What is the difference between cryotherapy and physiotherapy?

Accepted Answer

Physiotherapy is an AHPRA-regulated allied health profession focused on diagnosis, rehabilitation, and treatment of injury and movement disorders. Mobile cryotherapy is a wellness and recovery modality — it delivers physiological outcomes including pain relief, inflammation reduction, and tissue stimulation, but does not involve medical diagnosis or prescription. Many physiotherapists use cryotherapy tools as part of their treatment. For diagnosis of a specific injury, always consult a registered health professional.

Question 32

Can cryotherapy help with headaches?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Mobile Cryotherapy Brisbane offers a Headache Killer treatment — a quick $10 application of the cryotherapy device to the neck, base of skull, and temples. The cold rapidly reduces tension and inflammation in these areas, which are common contributors to tension headaches and post-training head pressure. Many athletes use this at events between games for quick relief.

Question 33

Who is Mobile Cryotherapy Brisbane?

Accepted Answer

Mobile Cryotherapy Brisbane is a self-funded mobile sports recovery and corporate wellness business founded and operated by Angus Taylor (known as Gus), based in Bethania QLD. Gus is an active rugby league player with personal experience in high-demand sport recovery, which directly informs the service. The business holds $10,000,000 AUD Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance (ABN: 74 922 885 813) and has serviced industrial clients including Oakey Beef Exports (NH Foods), sporting events including the 9PL Nines Premier League and Masters League Games, and corporate wellness events including L'Oreal HQ Melbourne and Super Retail Group.
